Once again the Fin’s and friends met at
Mike Yagmin’s dock for the annual holiday tradition of decorating Mike’s
yacht the "Main Squeeze". For two days we all labored away preparing the
Squeeze for its winter role. Christmas lights by the thousands were arranged
and strung on the Squeeze and eight plus reindeer. This year a new sleigh
was created and added to the stern of the Squeeze. The reindeer, with their
new coats of lights, took their positions on the port and starboard
railings. Rudolf moved up to his place at the bow to lead the way. Santa
watched everything from atop the canopy.
Five days later the first of several Boat
Parade’s began. The Fin’s and guests boarded the Squeeze early Friday
evening. Together, they brought a bountiful smorgasbord of foods and
refreshments. Then the generator was started the switch was flipped and all
the lights flashed on. The Squeeze was once again magically transformed into
a "Winter Wonderland" on water. The Squeeze then left the dock to motor on
to the location where it would take its position amongst the other vessels
in line for the parade. From then on and throughout the evening captain Mike
skillfully maneuvered his yacht through the many narrow canals where people
were lined up to greet us. On board we waved and enthusiastically yelled
"Merry Christmas" to our audience standing ashore. The crowds of people
watching waved and cheered back.
Spirits ran very high that evening.
Afterwards, not a soul departed without a smile on their face.
