Tournament Wrap-Up!!
It has been an
exciting tournament season with some new powerhouse shooters
from other clubs surfacing to challenge the SPUCS for the WCC series! There
have been 5 local tournaments since the last update.
WCC #2 was the a good tournament for the club. GR Tarr was
the overall winner and 4 of the 8 top spots went to club members.
The FSDA Southern Open was next with John
Schmidt and Scott Lucas taking 2nd and 3rd place. 3
of the top 10 were SPUCs.
WCC #3 The club had another good showing with
2 of the top 4 finishes and 3 of the 5 big fish trophies going to club
members. Jason Delacruz was the overall winner and Rich Taylor was 4th
off the same boat.
The 2007 St. Pete Open finished up it’s 43rd
year in August. As always, it attracted huge crowds in to see the coolers
full of monster fish! The biggest news from the tournament was Jason
Delacruz’s last minute victory with his 63.7lb grouper to take the top
honors as the 2007 St. Pete Open Champion! 4 of the top 10 spots and 7
trophies were taken by SPUCs. The prize table was great and everyone had a
great time!
WCC #4 followed 3 weeks after the SPO.
Jason Delacruz took 3rd place overall. The SPUCs barely edged
out the Seals for 2nd place in the series while the Florida
Freeshafters took 1st place. Congratulations everyone!
